Twenty-three players make up this week’s Black Stars squad list, picked after two matches at the end of September: the 2-4 defeat to Gambia on Tuesday 29 September 2026, and the 2-0 loss away to Ivory Coast on Thursday 24 September 2026, both Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Between Monday 12 October 2026 and Sunday 18 October 2026, 8 of those players did not get into a matchday squad at all. L. Zigi missed out as St. Gallen won their Swiss Cup tie at Rapperswil. M. Fuseini sat out both Union St. Gilloise games that week, the Europa League draw with Real Sociedad and the cup win over Nijlen. B. Asare, K. Sibo, R. Yeboah, R. Ibrahim and A. Djiku were all left out of a squad at least once too. J. Opoku’s absence from Başakşehir’s squad against Gaziantep FK is logged as a missing fixture, with the reason given as inactive.

Five more were named among the substitutes but never got on. I. Sulemana stayed on the bench as Sassuolo lost 4-2 at Frosinone. E. Annan did the same twice for Rapid, away at Universitatea Cluj and at home to Corvinul Hunedoara, both wins. K. Peprah Oppong watched Fenerbahçe’s 6-0 Champions League defeat at Aston Villa from the bench, then stayed unused again as Fenerbahçe beat Alanyaspor at home. J. Adjetey was an unused substitute as Wolfsburg beat Heidenheim, and G. Mensah the same as Köln lost at Eintracht Frankfurt. In total, 13 of the 23 called up did not play a single minute for their clubs this week.

The other 10 did get minutes. R. Donkor played more than anyone named this week, 168 minutes across two matches for New York Red Bulls, a defeat at DC United followed by a home loss to Toronto FC. J. Anang played the full 90 minutes as St Patrick’s Athletic lost to Shelbourne. A. Boakye also went the distance in Saint Etienne’s away win over RED Star FC 93. C. Marfo Yirenkyi played 78 minutes in Coventry’s 4-1 win over Newcastle. A. Fatawu came off the bench for 19 minutes as Ipswich lost at Manchester City. F. Afena-Gyan played in both of Iğdır FK’s matches, 21 minutes against Keçiörengücü and 24 against Boluspor.

Two of the ten scored for their clubs, two goals between them. B. Tetteh’s goal came inside a 2-2 draw for Al-Ittihad Kalba against Al-Jazira, where he also set up a goal and picked up a yellow card. E. Nuamah scored for Lyon in a 3-2 Europa League win over Crystal Palace, then sat unused on the bench for the league win over Nice that followed. Three players picked up assists across the week: B. Tetteh, already mentioned, C. Bonsu Baah in Al-Qadisiyah’s draw at Pakhtakor, and B. Thomas-Asante in Coventry’s 4-1 win over Newcastle.

The Black Stars are not back together until the Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifier at home to Somalia, kicking off Wednesday 11 November 2026, 17:00 Accra time.
