Depositing with MTN Mobile Money in Ghana

It covers one payment channel - MTN Mobile Money - at the operators we cover editorially, and only what those operators publish about it. It is a desk pass: pages were read and transcribed, licence classes were checked against the register. No account was opened, no cedi was deposited and nothing was timed.

• Deposit fees only where an operator prints one. We do not republish MTN's own tariff without reading it on a date; a row carries a fee only when the operator's own deposit page prints it, and stays empty otherwise.
• USSD short codes only where printed. SPORTYBET: The SportyBet Ghana footer prints Paybill: *711*222# on every page (read 21 September 2026). Where an operator names a USSD channel without printing the code on the pages we read, we print none for it.
• No confirmation or settlement times. Those require a deposit we have not made, from an account we have not opened.

The order below follows the deposit and help pages we read. Where a step depends on something we have not observed, it says so instead of guessing.

1. Check the site is the licensed one. Trade names in the Gaming Commission register are the ones to match - a look-alike domain is not in it. The full register →
2. Open the deposit page. The channel list can be readable before you sign in; each row in the table below links the page we read. We have not opened an account anywhere, so we do not describe what the form asks for once you are signed in.
3. Pick the network that matches your wallet. Networks are separate choices, not one "mobile money" button: BETPAWA's page lists MTN, AirtelTigo and Telecel as distinct options, each with its own limit: BETWINNER's page lists MTN, AirtelTigo Money, Vodafone, Visa, MasterCard, GG Bank and Bidget Pay as distinct options, each with its own limit.
4. Enter the amount in GH₵. Minimums each operator declares are in the table below. An amount under the declared minimum, or over a channel limit, is refused at this step.
5. Approve it on your handset. Two flows appear in what operators list - an in-site deposit and a USSD deposit. BETWAY names both (MTN USSD and MTN Online). 1XBET, BETPAWA, BETWINNER and SPORTYBET name a single MTN entry without saying which flow it is. We have not run either, so we do not describe the prompt, the PIN screen or how long approval takes.

Every value in this table is the operator's own claim, read from its own site on the date in the last column. None of it is verified by us, and the Gaming Commission register carries no payment data against which it could be checked.

Note on 1XBET's page. 1xBet Ghana's payments page lists 18 deposit methods (3 « Mobile payments », 15 « Cryptocurrency ») and 19 withdrawal methods (3 « Mobile payments », 2 « Bank transfer », 14 « Cryptocurrency »). On deposits, the three mobile operators are at « No fees, Instant Deposit »: MTN « Minimum: 1.00 GHS », Telecel « Minimum: 1.50 GHS », AirtelTigo Money « Minimum: 1.00 GHS ». On withdrawals, all three move to « Minimum: 2.00 GHS », « No fees, 15 minutes », and two bank routes are added: « Bank Transfer by Paystack, Minimum: 10.00 GHS, No fees, 15 minutes » and « Bank withdrawals, Minimum: 7.00 GHS ». No bank card and no international wallet: in Ghana, 1xBet works on mobile money and cryptocurrency, and on bank transfer to take money out.

No cryptocurrency, unlike 1xBet Ghana. Cards and GG Bank can be used to deposit but not to withdraw.

Deposit fee reads Not disclosed on every row where we have sourced none - not because every deposit is free. Where an operator prints a fee on its own deposit page, the row carries that word and the ceiling beside it, with the day we read it.

We have not made a deposit at any of these operators, so we publish no error messages, no failure rates and no resolution times. What the pages we read do let you check, before you pay and before you contact anybody:

• The network selected matches the wallet. MTN, AirtelTigo and Telecel are separate choices - BETPAWA prints a ceiling for each; - BETWINNER prints a ceiling for each. Which one matches your wallet is the first thing to get right.
• The amount sits inside the channel's limits. Limits are per channel, not per operator: BETPAWA prints MTN GH¢ 25,000.00, AirtelTigo GH¢ 10,000.00, Telecel GH¢ 25,000.00 (read 21 Sept 2026); BETWINNER prints MTN Maximum: 5000.00 GHS, AirtelTigo Money Maximum: 5000.00 GHS, Vodafone Maximum: 5000.00 GHS, Visa Maximum: 1500 EUR, MasterCard Maximum: 1500 EUR, GG Bank Maximum: 10000 EUR, Bidget Pay Maximum: 10 000 USD (read 30 Sept 2026).
• The amount clears the declared minimum. 4 operators declare a minimum (1XBET GH₵1, BETPAWA GH₵1, BETWINNER GH₵1, SPORTYBET GH₵1); BETIKA and BETWAY declare none on the page we read.
• The site is the licensed operator's own. Check the trade name against the register before entering a PIN anywhere.

A withdrawal time is only worth printing when somebody requested a withdrawal, watched it land and recorded the date - and no operator on this site has been tested with real money yet.
